Re: 1984 johnson 115 v4 red and black plugs from harness
last question for you it has no wire for starter or a ground it just has red plug running to a key separate from the key on controls
Sorry, I do not comprehend what you're trying to get across to me. You will need to think about what you want to ask in some manner that comes across clearly to us. (Pictures?)
If the engine wiring harness has the RED plug.... and you have a instrument wiring harness that also has a RED plug, those two plugs simply plug together.
You would need a regular heavy duty BLACK ground cable to connect to the negative side of the battery with the other end grounded to the powerhead ground stud..... and a heavy duty RED cable attached to the positive side of the battery with the other end attached to the large terminal of the starter solenoid that has two smaller RED wires attached to it, one of which incorporates a 20 amp inline fuse.
This would allow you to crank and start the engine by using the key switch.
