1988 cheeta mercruiser 4.3 alpha 1
On lake for couple of hours everything worked fine. Went to dock to put on trailer. Went in reverse to slow boat down, then it would not go in forward. Finally got it in forward by going from reverse to forward with remote. At home tried to get in forward but would not work. I lowered the trim as much as I could and finally got it in forward. I took both cables off of shift plate and could manually go in forward and reverse. My question is do you think I have a remote problem or do I need to adjust the cables? I have never had a problem with my shifting before. It goes in reverse perfectly just will not go in Forward. Boat is in excellent condition and kept in garage and well maintained. Can the drive shift cable stretch or deteriorate? No salt water running.
Can you give me the part numbers for the remote control and the shift cable if that is my problem?
