will a 4.3 lower fit on a 2.3 omc cobra?

I have an 88 bayliner Capri with the omc 2.3l. Sadly last week I found a rock, had lower welded for now but noticed prop shaft seems to have a slight wobble when I spin prop by hand. I found a couple different lowers but there the 4.3 will these work at all? One 4.3 lower is from a 92 sunbird.

it will fit, but it won't work. The 2.3 has a unique gear ratio. You need a 2.3 lower.

That's what I was afraid of. Could a 3.0 work with a different prop? I've located a 3.0 but no luck on 2.3 yet. Living in Maine makes it a little more difficult. With the welded lower I figured trying to locate another lower would be a better option maybe not the case anymore.

The lower unit on a 2.3 and the 3.0 should be the same.
It's the upper gear housing that's different.
The 4.3 is a different unit, the lower is bigger to handle the extra umph!
