Aq130 C 270 slipping and not getting speed

I have purchased this boat and it had been sitting for 10 years, I have replaced all fuel related items and took it to the water, Well the engine ran good but when you would get up to about 3000RPMS it starts slipping it will rev all the way up to 5000 Rpms but it is still not going any faster. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong or what I need to do? Someone said their is some kind of oil in the prop that may need to be changed does anyone know how to do this and what I need to use?

Welcome to the forum. You'll find that older boats can give great satisfaction when you get them running right. In the mean time, you may learn more than you ever imagined about older mechanical systems. The outdrive, the gray, whitish colored thing at the back of the boat with a propeller attached to it, is a sort of drivetrain for the boat. Since it's mechanical, it has gears, bearings, and of course, oil in it. The drain plug is on the bottom, forward of the prop. The center bolt on the top of the outdrive is the dipstick and can also act as a vent. Drain the outdrive by first removing the dipstick and then the drain plug. I suspect that you may have some milky colored oil coming out the drain based on what you're describing.

I have an aq131a with a 275 and I'm having the exact same problem!!! please i hope someone can give us a better clue where to look for the problem. Could it be the prop? what could be slipping.
