9.8 hp merc gear shift

hello one and all....thanks for al your help in the past
im editing this post as i work on this 9.8 hp mercury 110
it looks like its the sector gear and maybe the shift shaft as well..
i have removed the horzontal sector gear but the shaft is still there...
does anyone know how to remove the sector gear and shift shaft off this motor?
