I have a 1977 StarCraft with a 2.5 liter GMC that idles beautifully...... however when I throttle up it stalls out and I need to pump it but it still starves for fuel. We are trying to adjust carb to run a little richer but don't have a manual. We have set the timing to 8. It also has a 20 horse 64-66 merc 200 kicker that spits out a little grease and gets hot and cold intermittently......

It had a tune up about a year and a half ago and never got ran after that.....at least that's what the guy told me. It does have new plugs distributor and plugs tho. I don't know how to check vaccum or fuel pump pressure! I'm pretty green!

When you throttle up does the accelerator pump squirt fuel?

Take the cover off the flame arrestor (looks like an air filter) and look down in the carb while someone pushes the throttle. You should see a squirt of fuel. The engine doesn't have to be running to do this but the bowl in the carb has to have fuel in it.

Yes we do have fuel pumping in......the fuel is probably over a year old in there. We added a few gallons of premium....we also just replaced fuel/water filter.....could it just be bad gas? There is black stuff coming out of prop exhaust?

You could hook up a small portable tank with fresh fuel to rule that out.

Ok we'll give that a try! Thank you for all your help! I'm sure I'll have more questions! Like the little bit of grease coming out of kicker motor where the water comes out
