Working on my father in-law's '93 Regency. It has the OMC EFI 302. When he first purchased it, he got it cheap as it didn't run, the previous owner told him that a mechanic checked it out and said the low pressure fuel pump needed replaced. I replaced the pump and it still wouldn't start. I found the main fuse to have some corrosion, cleaned it and it fired right up. Ran great for most of last summer... At the end of the season we had some trouble getting it to plane out. It'll start easy, idles great and can put around fine. When we throttle up to get it into a plane, it just starts to sputter, bog and doesn't have enough power to plane out.
I'm curious as to what I should look for here... Is it possible the high pressure pump is the culprit? I have the mechanical skills to do the job, just not familiar with these engines. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
