:confused:Hi All,
I'm sure this has been asked more times then you care to answer. 84 or 88 evinrude 60 hp VRO. According to manual I have removed every bolt for lower unit removal. Motor has sat for 16 yrs w/o moving. I don't even know if it was ever opened before. Is there a trick or special tool for unsticking the unit. Is it possible that the driveshaft is sticking in powerhead? I can get 1/4 in. opening at rear of unit and ???1/8 in front but it wont drop. Any help will cause my blood pressure to drop. Thanks to all and stay on top. Brewbillt

Re: stuck for 16 yrs.

You don't mention disconnecting the shift shaft; if you haven't done that it will not come apart. I'm not familiar with your engine so some of the gurus will have to chime in and tell you how to do it if your manual doesn't tell you. Good luck

1st of all need to find the year. The 1984 60hp is a 2 cylinder the 1988 60hp is a 3 cylinder.
The shift rod connects differently on each of these engines. The manual should tell you this if you have the correct one.
