I need some help again, I have a mercruiser 120 2.5 and I have been fighting a fuel issue since last season. The boat will run great until what seems like I get to a certain fuel level in the tank. I have checked the pickup line for leaks replaced all the fuel hoses checked the vent installed a inline filter had the carb rebuilt everything I can think of. I noticed a few min ago that when the boat is idling I can see a good flow of fuel doing into the filter but when I give it about 2500 rpm the flow is just a small trickle is this normal. I have not replaced the fuel pump because I was told a fuel pump is not going to work intermittently. Would it be possible the crank lobes are worn down? Is an electric fuel pump possible?

First of all, you shouldn't be able to "See" fuel at all. If you have a clear fuel filter, they are for outboards and should not be in an enclosed engine compartment.

Now, on to your problem. Have you changed the filter in the fuel pump itself?

Here is a how to on testing the fuel system.
