98 Merc 50HP 4 stroke
The symptoms: Starts hard, choke does not work, once started it Idles normal until I throttle up. After throttling up it stays at a high idle. I have noticed that the choke linkage never moves until I throttle up. The only way to lower the idle is to pull the choke linkage down and against the adjustment screws. The linkage never touches the adjustment screws unless I pull it down. The choke does not move when I push the key in and the cylinder inside the choke magnet is always fully extended.
After researching posts, I think the choke is the problem. Can anyone tell me how to test it and/or send pics of how it looks under normal condition?
