The water deflectors in the block may be swelled up blocking water flow.

Pull the head covers and see if there is any debris inside the water passages. Checking the water deflector for correct positioning in the cylinders is a good idea.

Thanks guys,I was gonna check that next.we installed all new water pump kit and it is pumping water a lot better now.the plate under the impeller was bent a slight bit and had a pretty good groove wore in it.motor does fine now as long as u don't run it wot. Want to overheat if its ran wot. Gonna check water deflectors in next day or 2.are the deflectors located in the heads or block?

Those rubber water diverters are in the block, between the cyl liners and the block. When that engine runs WOT, the nylon pressure relief valves inside the thermostat housing must open for extra cooling water flow. You may want to open the housing up, check the diverters and even install 2 new thermostats for good measure. If the nylon diverters ever get overheated, they can deform and not work properly.
