What do you think the scrap value on an old 14 foot crestliner aluminum fishing boat would be worth? Boat is no good anymore due to a tree falling on it.

Re: Scrap Value?

You'll get more for it "clean", this means you have to remove everything that isn't aluminum...everything, even the floatation foam if it has any.

Re: Scrap Value?

Most scrap yards will only pay "breakage" price for boats.
It's not the same as aluminum cans.
Around here, you get 20% clean can price.
I actually witnessed the scrap yard pay $28 for an old boat last year.
I figured it was about 200 pounds.

I told the guy he should have fixed it and given it to some kids that would love it.
he agreed.

Current local "breakage" price is 18 cents.

Re: Scrap Value?

We scrapped an 18' Starcraft that got hit by a truck a couple years ago. I removed all that wasn't aluminum, most of it all fell out when we rolled the boat over. The I/O drive and engine were removed and sold for parts separate on CL.
The hull brought just under $500. I think the scrap price for aluminum was about $ .80 per pound.
Scrap prices in general have been dropping over the past year or so.
