I am restoring my 1990 Lower pontoon with all new furniture and console. I would like to replace the steering wheel. I see steering wheels for sale online and none say that they are for something specific. Does anyone know If I can simply order a steering wheel for a boat and it would adapt properly?

Thanks,

Re: Replacement Steering Wheel

Yours should be pretty standard at that year. If you take of the center cap should be jsut a nut and washer holding it on and then a keyway the keeps the wheel locked. I forget the exact terminology but and standard shaft one should work.
A new wheel is a nice upgrade, I went with a 15" destroyer style over my 12" stock one and it makes steering easier and looks nice.

Re: Replacement Steering Wheel

To my knowledge their 3 types of shafts the wheels fit on depending on the age of the steering unit a tapered spline shaft, a tapered keyed shaft and a square one, You will need to remove your old steering wheel before you will know what one you need. As a guess I would think yours in a tapered keyed shaft.

I went to this one last year. FYI if you click on the pic they get bigger.
