I have a 2005 merc 125hp 2 stroke, It idles fine, starts fine, and goes into gear fine. My problem is when I hit 2600 rpm on throttle up, UNDER LOAD ONLY it starts to skip, grind, jump, in what sounds like the top end of the motor?. The prop still spins when its doing this, I've done the plugs, wires, put new leg oil, and the compression is 150 psi in all 4 cylinders. im pretty sure I didn't hit anything and there's nothing caught in the prop.

You may have incorrect adjusted shift-cable, result:clutch-dog in gear not fully engaged.

Hey,we are talking shift-cable,NOT throttle-cable.
Do this with engine NOT running:
Take the SHIFT-cable off,put engine in forward, take it back in neutreal, see if cable end and engine gear attachement aligns,
if not adjust cable so it does.
Do NOT try to put in reverse while engine not is running!!!!!!!

You havent had lower unit off for some reason or?
