This question refers to a Yamaha 2 stroke 85hp 198x model 85AE outboard. This unit is manual trim/tilt.
The mechanism to lock the outboard in the down position when reversing isn't working on our Yamaha 2 stroke 85hp 198x. Everything seems to move freely but if you lift the outboard it doesn't lock. However if you hold the mechanism in place it stops the outboard moving.
Does anyone have any ideas ? Or even does anyone know how the lock works ? I'm struggling to figure it out. I've attached a couple pics of the affected area.
As you can see there's a bit missing off the mechanism but as it locks when held in place I'm hoping it's not important.
