I would like to convert my 1969 Johnson 9.5 HP model # 9R-69S to a 15 HP. There is plenty of info on converting a post '74 9.9 to a 15 by just changing the carb....was wondering if it is the same for a '69.

If not an option... are there any easy mods that I could do to gain HP?

Thanks

Nope, the later 9.9/15 is a completely different engine. Don't think there is a lot you can do with your 9.5

Thanks... That is kinda what i was thinking. Had found a few posts (not on this site) saying it was possible but was thinking they had gotten the years mixed up.

Anybody in the market for a '69 9.5hp with a Camo dipped (shadow grass) engine cover???:)
