Lost IL Boat/Trailer Title - Now Live in WI

My wife accidentally threw away my IL boat and trailer title. We recently move to WI. I have not registered the boat in WI yet, and I actually want to put it up for sale.

Can I apply for a new title through WI, or do I have to go back to IL? Does it have to be registered before I try to sell?

Doesn't need to be curant but you will need the boat title to registar it here in Wis.

You will have to go back to Illinois and apply for lost titles. In your case as the last legal registared owner should be no big deal just a matter of paper work and sending them money because we all know it's "all about the money"!

Getting replacement titles from Illinois should be painless, just money and time. You will need the Illinois title for Wisconsin anyways.

Not a problem. You may even be able to do it over the internet or phone.

It might be just this side of impossible to sell the boat without that info.
