I have a volvo 225e engine, i took out the impeller to change it and i didnt note the way it came out. the new one fits on the spline both ways. i noticed one end of the impeller has numbers on it. Do i put the numbers facing in on the housing or facing out of the housing? i noticed if you put the impeller in the wrong way the fins spin a differnt direction? which way do i install it? help out please and thanks

With a new impeller, it will not make any difference with the initial direction.

There is potential issue if your sea water pump is a Jabsco or Johnson large volume pump.
Jabsco has six cover screws.... Johnson or Sherwood have only four.
Jabsco and Johnson are splined..... Sherwood is keyed.

The large volume Jabsco pump and the large volume Johnson impellers look almost identical.
Same diameter, same spline count, same fin count.

Johnson F6B-9 impeller measures approx 1.900" in depth.
Jabsco impeller measures approx 1.990" in depth.

If the Johnson 1.900" impeller is installed in the Jabsco 1.990" body, it will fit, but will not work.

Parts counter people get this mixed up.
