I have a question. What happens when you take your boat to a mechanic, he tells you he fixed the problem, you pay, when you try out said piece of equipment the same problem exist. I trust the mechanic I don't think he's a shady guy. What happens next? Am I out the money I paid him, to not fix the problem? What normally happens in this situation?

You call him and say it is still broken. And if you need to both be in the boat to duplicate and troubleshoot then that is what it will take. But first thing is first.... call the man and let him know. If he is half a mechanic he will want to make things right.

^^^^^Agreed^^^^ Good mechanics stand behind their work and do what they have to to make it right

You might also want to post some details so the experts here can call BS if you're being fed a story.
