hey guys I have a 1978 bayliner quartermaster with a aq120b motor 270 outdrive and I rebuilt the carb last year its the solex44 phn3 and I reamed on the check valve to hard I gess and it broke the top off any ways I took it out to start the season and it is really killing out at take off, sometimes it dies and some time I can feather it to run slowly till it finally gets to a point and takes off. it idels awesome, just at take off and sometime when going into gear do you think this has to do with the check valve and what is the check valve thank guys

Re: HELP broken check valve

If it wasn't that you broke something I would say it's probably just the accelerator pump adjustment. Back off the nut on the rod to make it engage earlier.

You can take off the cover and hit the throttle and watch, does it die out before the gas shoots from the 'candy-cane'.

Doesn't the carb kit come with a new check valve? So you now have a extra one to try right?
