Can I replace this plug?

It leaks around the plastic piece, not through the actual plug. I bought the boat and it had a bunch of regular silicone around it. So can I replace the whole thing and fix this correctly? Is this how they came from the factory?

I believe it's a 1961 Alumacraft.

Can't tell from the pic if the fitting is good, if it is, you could re-bed it with 3M 5200 using new stainless steel screws.

I'd replace it with a garboard drain though...

Thank guys.

Not too often I can fix something for less than $10. I was using a baitwell plug in this but it may have been threaded like the plugs in the links.
