I just finished a complete rebuild on my StarCraft SS201. It as a 1989 4.3 Mercruiser Alpha. I installed new Faria gauges, the tach is the only one not working. I checked the setting on the tach and it is on #3 as stated in the Faria instructions. How is the best way to trouble shoot this?
Thanks

Re: Tach

Check you have power to the instrument, and a good ground. If they both check out, then check continuity of the signal wire all the way back to the coil '-' terminal.

Re: Tach

Is the gray wire hooked to the - terminal of the coil? That's the wire that signals the tach.

Re: Tach

Thanks guys, I checked the setting on the back of the tach, it was set on the right setting but I think not quite making contact. Moved it a little and reset it and all is working well.
