5.7 GSi compression ratio formula.

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 2000 5.7l GSi PEFS.

I notice that stock the compression ratio is listed at 9.4:1 but every time I punch stock numbers in to online calculators I am getting a number much higher, in the mid 10 ranges. Am I missing something here?

If you post the numbers you are using it might be easier to sort it out.

should be similar to these numbers... keeping in mind these are general and not exact numbers and could vary a little bit.


cylinder volume 716.5cc
head volume 64cc
head gasket volume 5.5cc
deck volume 5.5cc
piston dish volume 11cc

Gives comp ratio of 9.33
