Mariner 15 hp outboard questions

Can someone please tell me what year my Mariner 15 hp outboard motor is please?

Serial number: 684CS 027353

Also a boat mechanic who I purchased this motor to me since it has a "Made in Japan" that it actually is a Yahama and not a Mercury, can someone please verify this please?

I’m from Italy, and I think that’s right place to have notice I follow.

My Mariner 15 HP, two stokes, have serial number 684C S 063470
I know “S” means short, and this is correct.

About “684C”, I think is different from “684” without “C”
That’s right?

So I suppose:
- 684 serial number is Yamaha (swept volume: 262 cc)
- 684C serial number is Tohatsu (lower swept volume: 247 cc)
That’s right?


So I’m looking for:
- year production
- hand book
- part list


I sought on Brunswick web site, in the Japanese engines, but You can find 684 serial number, not 684C

I sent e-mail to Brunswick, but probably employees are too young to know details about very old outboard (I suppose my Mariner is from 1988 to 1992)

Please, give me news about, especially for Tohatsu or Yamaha engine.
After I'll be able to download correct docs from Brunswick web site.
