Anybody ever have to use a little sealer on the threads of your carb fitting to get it sealed. If so did it ever cause a problem? Local shop did that to mine, i always tried to evoid sealer on the fuel fittings worried about it deteriorating and getting into the fuel system. Maybe its not a big deal though.

They are flare fittings (or should be) sealer does nothing. Obviously the mechanic isn't very knowledgeable.

Re: carb fitting sealer

Sorry... I meant the carb fitting itself, not the fuel line fitting. The fitting that screws into the carb with a sealing washer.

I guess a lot would depend on what you have for a carb.

Edelbrock. Brass screw in fitting with washer. Its not leaking now, but I dotn want the sealer to come apart and plug something up. On holleys usually a different washer or a plastic washer would seal it. I havent messed with edelbrocks much.

It's a sealing washer (aka crush washer) and should not be re-used.

It was all new...

its a pretty well known shop in the area. If they did it chances are they have had to do it before and not had problems. Maybe I leave well enought alone.
