new owner!! Chris Craft 205 BR (1989) - any info is welcome and much appreciated

Hello all,

Together with a friend I bought a Chris Craft 205 BR. We are now
trying to understand what we bought..... a bit late.... I agree.

The boat has an inboard OMC 4.3L V6. We can not find so much
about the boat on the internet and now hope somebody can point
us in the right direction.

According to the papers I have, the boat was built in 1989. If I look
at Chris Craft boats in that time they all came with Mercruiser engines.
Does anybody know if they also sold boats with OMC engines? Trying
to determine if the engine was original with the boat.

Also we can't find anything on the engine to see what exact type it
is as we want to find the correct manual for the engine as I am expecting
some problems ahead Anyone knows where I should look?

Original color of the boat was red/white.

Any info would be welcomed.

Welcome to the iboats.com forum. The members here are great and the experts, which I am not, can help you with any questions. OMC purchased Chris Craft in 1989 and that seems consistent with what you would expect to find as original equipment. The link below will get you to brochure describing OMC Cobra sterndrives during that era and the engine options. The 4.3L V6 is probably the same GM-based automotive engine used by Mercruiser with different bolt-on items such as exhaust manifolds, water pumps, etc. You will get better info posting more specific questions about the motor and drive in the separate forum for OMC I/O's.
