Got this engine from my father, last time it ran, was rough which he discovered when he got it home was due to the top layer of foam insulation coming unglued. The foam was shredded and got in the carb, and the glue gummed up many components. I plan to clean the carb and check compression, check the lower end oil and need to change the impeller. Probably will do the plugs as well, engine has been sitting for 4-5 years since this occurred.

Could there be any damage? I know compression should be above 125 and both cyl. within 10 psi.

Other recommendations?

Gotta check the reeds.
If ANY got to the reeds??? You need to dismantle the intake and remove it ALL!!!!
It can cause serious damage if it's not cleaned out.
Remove it all from the hood and just run without it.
If it's done any damage it probably would show in the comp.
Your comp can be up to 160# or as low as 120# depending on guage.
It should vary no more than 4-5 #s at the most.
