I have an external water separator with a Sierra 18-7846 filter. Advance Auto gave me a Purolator F50274. It fits, but the sealing ring is not the same. In the Sierra, the rubber ring contacts a plastic disc inside the filter housing. The Purolator rubber ring is set further out and will contact the metal housing but misses the plastic disc. Looks like it may still seal on the metal (just like an oil filter)??? Can I use it?

Me too. Merc. or Sierra only way to go with fuel filters.

Quick little search shows 2 West Marine stores in your city that should have it in stock:
7070 College Pkwy
Fort Myers
(239) 275-6077

7461 Winkler Rd
Fort Myers
(239) 432-9800

Other marine shops should have it also.
