On the back of my '97 Larson 206SEI there are 4 3" round louvered vents. Each connects to a piece of 3" flexible duct. One of them on the port side is the output from the blower. The other 3 have the duct running down to the bottom, sides of the engine.
One of these hoses on the starboard side has come loose. It is cracked and brittle so I guess I need to replace it. I'm wondering if it's that important that all of these hoses go to the bottom of the engine. If there just providing air intake for the blower it would seem that no duct would really be needed, certainly not on all 3 anyway.
If I need to replace the hose is it the same vinyl hose you can get for ducting bathroom vent fans? That stuff is white, what's on the boat is black. Other than that it looks the same. Can I just leave the hose off the vent and let it intake to the top of the engine compartment?

Re: Engine compartment ventilation hose routing.

if they are routed to the bilge, then they are exhaust vents not intake....If one needs replaced then they ALL need replaced
