My old Rack and Pinion steering cable finally seized up and i ordered the replacement. I t is the correct length, yet it doesn't fit through the engine tilt tube! I've tried lubing it, and still nothing. I don't want to force it in, yet the old one goes in with ease. Are there different diameter bores for the shaft rod? Am i not doing it right? Any help would be appreciated.:D

Re: Steering Cable Troubles

Is the tip intact? I replaced mine a couple of years ago and had no problem on my outboard. Don't remember if I took the adapter off the end or not and don't remember the dimensions. But I can go out to the shop and look. I did and the tip is the same OD as the inner cable rod that slides through the tilt tube.

Is your's Teleflex-Morse? Mine is. If so, give them a shout. They are great folks and their customer support is 2nd to none.
