I am new to this forum and not too familiar with Mercury outboard motors. A few days ago I purchased an older used 14 foot aluminum boat and trailer and a 1990 25 hp Mercury 2 stroke outboard motor. Everything seems in very good condition. I brought the motor home in the box of my truck and then installed it on the back of the boat when I got home. I have tried to tilt the motor up using the lever at the right side of the motor but it doesn't seem to want to move. I would assume that the lever has to move somewhat but it doesn't budge. I have tried to lift the motor gently to relieve some of the strain on the lever but to no avail. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to what I am doing wrong?
