1994 Evinrude 150 Intruder question

i had a friend tell me that my motor with "GL" in the serial number has 175hp carb jets in it from the factory
can anyone confirm this?

Mostly correct. The GL model is the "Intruder" version-similar to the old XP/GT models of prior years. The 150 GL model uses the high compression 175 heads, and the larger-throated 175 carbs. As a 150, it is permitted to put out 10% more hp than stated on the cowling, so the engine will actually make around 165 hp at the prop. It probably uses slightly smaller carb jets in order to make only allowable hp. The actual block powerhead part number are different between the 150 and 175. Possible the 175 block is ported slightly higher (differently.)
