what is the average life of a 1986 mercury black max 2 stroke?
I have a 1987 myself.
A mercury mecanic advised me to remove the oil injection and use mixed fuel,because the crankshaft driven
oil pump and its gear is a weak point in these engines.
He said, do this and it will run almost forever.
If you do, be sure to use the blindplug set ment for this removal of the oilpump.
This set is availible at most boat parts dealers, its not expensive,I did this my self.
