Out for a run in Charlotte harbor today hit a biggish wake, minute later loses power, bilge pump starts...panic, open motor hood, water and steam everywhere, bilge pump going full tilt....panic i am sinking....decide to carry on slowly rather than call Sea-Tow and sink anyway.....get it back on lift breaking all speed limits in canal system, top large cooling hose had blown off when i hit the wake hard...

Oil pressure was normal
No warning overheat buzzers
temp guage flickered between zero and quarter of normal all the way back

Refitted hose tightly. Have not run yet. Am i likely to have damaged anything? anything I should change or look for? Obviously salt water had sprayed everywhere which i have oinsed down and now drying out.....

Any words of wisdom appreciated!

Yeah, if something like that happens again, open the hatch and look instead of just going along blindly without a clue.

You probably overheated the engine big time with that hose off, and still running it that long. Without water in the engine, the senders and switchs have nothing to read. They don't work in air that well.
