Hi all,
We had our boat out the water a few weeks ago and found a multitude of issues with the engine. Nothing too serious, but it needs a new sump, timing cover, exhaust headers, alternator, circulating pump and pulleys. With parts and labour, it's going to cost a lot, and we'll still have a ~22 year old engine at the end of it all.
Our thoughts have moved to installing a new engine. A company can provide a vortec engine that will push 225HP instead of the AQ's 180, and with a modification to the bell housing to use the flywheel we have & starter motor, will be able to be mated with our DP290 drive which has been checked and is still perfectly servicable.
However, this expense has been unexpected and we're looking to save some money where possible. Can the 4-barrel holley carb on the AQ205A fit onto the Vortec engines? If so, presumably it'd be wise to rebuild it with fresh seals, etc, but will it also require re-jetting? Does anyone know what jets should be used?
This is the engine we're hoping to purchase:
Brand New 4.3L V6, with 4BBL Intake Manifold - Repower Volvo Penta V6 - Repower Volvo Penta Petrol - New Marine Engines - Repower Marine Ltd.
We're hoping to use the same starter and pulleys (powdercoating the pulleys) as well as the carb, and will also need the flywheel and bell housing. Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks in advance.
