I just bought this motor.It looks new the carb is corroded but I have a kit coming.My problem is the manual start has been removed.The mount that screws on the face of the carb is intact,The rope is gone and the spring has onloaded.Can someone explain where the spring connects down on the bottom of the mount.The spring retainer plate is here with the two bolts.I cant see how the spring connects to the lower part of the mount to get the rope to rewind?

There is information you need here. I'm fixing up a 68- 6HP Evinrude right now to give to a friend. Waiting for a gear case re-seal kit and then I think I'm done. Best of luck. Rick.

I thank you both! I couldnt find leeroys rambelings I had a desktop shortcut that said it was discontinued? thanks again.

If it use the same system as the 4 reloading the spring is fairly easy. I have a 69 4hp illustrated factory service manual. I could scan the page for you.
