Hello,
I just tried for the first time of the year to start the engine on my Four Winns H250 - Volvo Penta 8.1 GI - F.
As I turn the key on the starter, it seems to run, but the engine does not get engaged at all.
As the starter runs, there is a pretty pronounced clicking noise. Could the gear of the starter not engaging to the wheel of the engine? and the clicking noise coming from the teeth edge of the gear grinding onto the wheel?
my engine compartment was heated through the winter, but could the spring pushing the gear be broken or grease dried out and locking it?
Overall, would it be just a started replacement?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
