Had a problem first time out with the motor low on power and backfiring under load. Took the boat to the dealer and just got the call that one of the cylinders has no compression. Said they pulled the plug on that cylinder and the rod and porcelain was gone. Dealer said it would be cheaper to install a new long block. Quoted me $4000 out the door for new motor installed with labor.
It's is (or was) a 1995 Volvo Penta 5.0FL with SX outdrive.
Should I tow the boat to another dealer and get a second opinion on the price?
