1989 115 hp rebuild

hi guys rebuilding a 1989 115 hp merc serial number oc106992 putting the lower crankshaft end cap on ,merc manual says to coat the flange with perfect seal , what would work for this that i could get at an auto supply store ..i was thinking that indian head gasket sealer would work what you guys think thanks in advance

I use permatex aviation form a gasket $5, never had a problem with that, someone else might of but if its ok on planes i think its probably pretty reliable

i got some permatex high tack gasket sealant as the stuff on there seemed similar to it has anyone used this could not find aviation form a gasket

You could look up its specifications, all permatex products have their details on line. See if it is oil/petrol resistance and if it has some form of heat resistance. If it meets those criteria then its very likely good for that application you need it for

I vote for Permatex No. 3 Aviation-Type gasket dressing as well. Been using it for years, works great!
