I recently purchased a 1999 Bayliner Capri 1750 that has a Mercruiser Alpha one 3.0 with a 2.0 gear ratio that came with a 15x17 OuickSilver prop. I am going to need to replace the prop, so I called Bayliner and discovered my boat was outfitted from the factory with a 14.25x21 prop. I want to know everyone?s recommendations as for a replacement prop or should I just stay with the 15x17. This boat is used for occasional cruising but mainly is used to pull 2 tubes or a skier, so top end isn?t much of importance as gas mileage & being able to get on plane quickly with a skier or tubes is.
Thanks everyone in advance for your advice & recommendations?.

Welcome, You did good job getting us the info but we need a little more.
It would be good to have your present wot rpm and speed with your typical load.
With the 21" prop it would do about 40 mph at about 4600-4800 rpm.
The 21 wouldn't be much good for water sports.
The 17" is a good selection for water sports. But may over rev at wot.
You should be careful not to routinely over rev.
Wot speed with the 17 would be less than the 21 but hole shot would be better.
You could have the 17 repaired Probably less than a new prop.
Your wot rpm and speed with the 17" would tell us if an increase in pitch might
be a better compromise for your activities.

My instinct is saying 15.5 X 17 Solas Amita for strong acceleration and about 40 mph top speed.

Really like to know what WOT rpm the 15 X 17 does to be sure.

Jestor your usually right on But with a 17" prop if he was to make 40 he would likely be turning about 5500 rpm.
The little 3.0 wouldn't like that much.
As you suggested the 17 is typically used for water sports(strong acceleration) with the caution to watch the rpm.
with lighter loads.
