Re: what year is my 225

It looks like it's an '88 or probably newer. Yes it is a V6 Looper with VRO. The number stamped on the plug is the serail number I think. They started doing that at some point after 1988 instead of putting the model number. If you contact Evinrude, they may be able to give you the model number. I had an engine that I stripped for part that had a similar number on the plug. I determined that it was a '90 or 91 by some of the parts on the engine that were specific to those years.

Call BRP customer service at 1-262-884-5993, give them that # and they should be able to help you.

I tried that number and got a recorded message. Something about you have reached tech support and if you already had a case open they would get back to you. It doesn't seem to be the correct number for the general public.
Update:

I looked for another number and this is all I found. I guess if you can't get through you can write. I also read on the BRP site that they don't support any products before 1994.

"Call us at: (262) 884-5993 (same number boobie posted)

I guess the OP got some good news and some bad news. It's two years newer but 25 HP less.

Re: what year is my 225

Starboard side has the wrong t-stat cover and you need to fix the hose routing.
This should help.
http://shop2.evinrude.com/Index.aspx?s1=8nd0t9o2c5aeru3d7bd7hbgu41&catalog_id=0&siteid=1

Hose should go from the water control valve to stbd t-stat. Another hose connects to the other hose nipple on the stbd t-stat cover and goes to the port t-stat cover

Your going to need a manual sooner or later, so just bite the bullet and get one now. You can find used OE OMC manuals on Ebay for around $30. Just be sure you order the correct year. Research the correct manual PN for your model and year. Many of the sellers incorrectly list the year the manual is for.

Look at the pictures on page 2 of this thread. It should have most of what you want.

This is what you have. Boobie did the work for you.

Use the search function. Learn how to look up the number of the manual and a order it, or should we all come fix it for you?
