I bought a 2000lb marine winch off ebay 2 weeks ago, and after one use it was obvious it was crappy. So I need a new one, anybody know which winch will give me the most bang for my buck??

thx!

I myself like the Dutton Laison winches, Seems to hold up to my mix of salt and fresh water use. Mine also has the strap on it (looks like a seatbelt).

Good luck to you.

What the heck is the difference between cable and strap?

I always had a strap and didn't like it--so my next one is cable.

Is the cable more susceptible to corrosion in salt water?

^^^+1 I've had their electric and manual winches used exclusively in salt water. They wear like tanks and last forever.
