size and year?

I bought a 1990 maxum 1800xr and it has a force outboard. I need to replace the impeller and I do not know the year the the size of the motor. I checked the tag and it is so worn I can not read anything on it is there any other way to find this info out?

Welcome to iboats.

We should be able to narrow it down pretty close.

Look inside the cowling, for an id plate below the carburetors. Some older models had them, some didn't.


Then telling us how many cylinders the motor has.

Post photos of the entire engine, side view.
And some photos of the ignition system, and fuel pump.

The boats a 90. Possible the motors a 90 too???
They only used one impeller for the 85/90 120/125 even the 150 for the early Forces.
I think starting in 95?? They went to Mercury parts.

18-3030 is the Sierra part#

Like Rosco suggests a few pics?? Powerhead,cowl.
The 90's had a small sticker on the transom mount.
Almost all faded as soon as they left the factory.
But if you realllllly waant the exact year drop the rear cover over the exhaust ports.
There is a foundry stamp with the month/year.

It is a 1990 model. I have had a 50Hp and it was a 1990. It had the same decal as this.

Looks to be a 3 cylinder 90 hp, a 1990.



Wait !!!!! I see a small white production line sticker on the starter.

It is indeed a 1990.
Model number 906A90C

Key to remember when ordering other parts is that you have the Prestolite ignition (blue cd modules and coils ),
along with the old style 2-stage fuel pump.



Current Mercury part number for the impeller is 89984T3.
