50 horse Evinrude firing problem

My 50 horse Evinrude will fire against the head unless you put your finger over the hole they screw into, then they quit firing. Anyone seen this before?

welcome to iboats dyna ! need more info.....model # etc. but what you describe should not be possible?

The spark plug wire had ab bad spot in it and was arcing to the coil. got shocked and figured it out. replaced wire and it runs fine now. thanks.
