I got a new fishfinder for my birthday and i am in the process of mounting it on my 15ft aluminum Meyers boat. The Humminbird I removed does not have the same bolt pattern as the new Lowrance. So I dont need to mount back in the exact same location. I am wondering where the proper location would be on my boat to avoid issues of not getting good readings while under-way. Heres a photo of the stern, and you can see where the old transducer mounted. I know i want to stay away from that rib on the bottom of the boat, and the manual said at least 12 inches from the motor.stern.jpg

Re: mounting transducer

Install it right where the old one was. Any farther in puts you near the strake and any closer to the center of the boat puts it too close to the motor and the keel.

thats what i was kinda thinking but just wanted to verify, any further outboard would probably get to close to the outboard spray and bubbles from the side of the boat right?

Yes -- Just put it where the old one was.
