Hello everyone, My 85 Thompson 140, has a button on the left side and one on the right side of the shifting lever the left side won't work to raise and lower engine only the right side works to raise and lower the engine.. Will this cause any major problems if not fixed immediately. And how or where can I get information on fixing this problem. Thank you all for any Help... Donna

Re: Raising Engine

It's not for raising and lowering the engine, it's for raising and lowering the outdrive.

The left button is trim, the right button is tilt. You just don't have the trim limit using the tilt button. Other than that, it won't hurt anything as long as you don't trim too high. But the prop will come out of the water before that happens.
