I bought this beautiful old 1970 Starcraft 18' aluminum offshore model about a year ago. It's my second Starcraft (should have kept the first one) so I put quite a lot of money into the interior, instruments, re-wire, etc. I took the boat & motor to a very reputable Outboard Doctor here in town (Lake Havasu City) and he reported it was a great old motor with factory spec compression on all 4, low hours motor. So here is the problem:
The past 3 times I have taken it to the lake it start and runs fine, but within 10 minutes it dies abruptly and will not restart no matter how much I crank it. Of course when I get it home on the ear muffs it starts and runs fine again. Fresh fuel, fresh spark plugs, carbs have been cleaned and gone through. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
ps - wonder how hard it is to change the coil?
