I have a bunch of manuals...and I need to learn how to determine the years they represent... I am sure it is going to be some type of lettering code.

, I have a bunch , most are green and some are blue.... how do I determine say what year an engine manual represents when it says 5.0 and 5.7 with all those different letters after the liter designation...are some of the letters models, and not years?thanks bob

Don't go buy year, it doesn't work out well at all on the 2001 and newer engines. Always go by model number.

The ones with all those letters like the manual in your second picture are for engines 1994 to 2000 (the EF denoted 2000)
After that, the - Letter like in your first picture, as an example, a -D may have been used for several years on one engine, and a different letter on the same year motor of a different kind.

This might explain the model numbers a bit more.
