evinrude swap now not pissing

Hey everyone i have a 76 evinrude 70hp the lower unit gave out so i swap it out for a johnson 78 70hp they were almost identical except for the paint put a new water pump in it bolted it up was for some reason i cant get it to **** water very little comes out..also im having problems with it shifting even tho they look identical,any advice????

Not sure what you did with the shifter rod attachment, but you probably didn't get the copper/brass water tube installed correct with the new water impellor change over. You either didn't get the tube installed correct at the power head section OR you didn't get the grommet and water tube fitted correctly at the water pump housing. Remove the LU again and see what happened to the water setup and also look at how you reconnected the shifter rod too... Good place to start looking anyway...JMHO!
