Hi, I have a 1982 19' I/O boat that I'm rebuilding. I got the boat from my neighbor for free. It still has 1984 tags all around. Neighbor does not have title, he will go with me to DMV.

So my question is about how much will the registration cost? I went to the CA DMV vessel fee list and from what I can figure it will be over $200, about $207 actually, including trailer registration. And I didn't consider tax so it may actually be more. Hopefully it won't be that much, because that's about all the money I have at the moment (college student).

I would like to know what to expect before I bring my neighbor to the DMV and embarrass myself by not having enough money. Does this $200 figure seem likely? Thank you.

Call the DMV and ask would be the easiest.

Gah! I'm getting a headache just thinking about calling the CA DMV. Lol!

You're probably right though, and I'll end up doing that on Monday or something, but I just figured I'd stop by hear and see if other folks went through this type of registration process. Thanks.
